Continued from part 1
On the day of your flight you must make your own way to the airport, arriving at the appointed time and make your presence know to whomever the courier company has specified. This could be the courier representative him/herself, the airline check-in desk or a ticket sales desk. Your outbound ticket will be ready and waiting for you to pick it up.
You won’t receive your ticket until you get to the airport. The reasons for this are as follows:-
Firstly, the courier company needs you to be at the airport with a few hours to spare to make sure they have a courier for the flight. If, for some reason, you are late or fail to turn up they still have some leeway to arrange for another courier to take your place at the last minute and pick up the ticket. If you had the ticket in your possession, another ticket would have to be issued which means more delay and expense for the courier company.
If you’ve only been given the outbound part of your ticket, it’s nothing to worry about. Sometimes courier companies do this to make sure you fulfill your obligations of making the return trip with their inbound cargo shipment. Your written instructions will tell you when, where, and from whom you collect your return ticket at the end of your holiday. It’s not always the case though; some courier companies will give you the outbound and inbound ticket upon departure.
If the cargo company does not have a courier for a particular flight and you are willing to travel at short notice, this can be good news. If the courier company is desperate, they’ll offer the replacement (and remember this could be you!) the ticket at a nominal price or even for free! It has been known for courier companies to be so desperate for someone to accompany their cargo; they’ve paid the courier to travel! Being paid to go away! Now that’s my kind of holiday!
Before leaving for the airport remember that most courier companies like you to be smartly dressed because a) you are a representative of their company for the duration of the flight and b) if the economy section of the aircraft is full you could be upgraded to business or even first class and its always best to look well groomed and turned out if you are flying in these premium seats.
If the flight is over-booked you will still fly because it’s imperative that a courier does not get bumped off the flight. Airlines will not bump you if they know you are a courier so it is your duty to make sure they know what you are doing. Under no circumstances can you volunteer to be bumped off a flight in return for cash inducements or other incentives sometimes offered by airlines. To do so is to violate your agreement with the courier company which causes them no end of trouble. In return for the upset and inconvenience this may cause you are likely to loose your deposit and be barred from any future flights.
Now you have your ticket you may have to wait around for a representative of the courier company to come and meet you. He or she will be the person who gives you the cargo documentation, or ‘manifest’ you will need to carry with you on the flight.
The manifest is just a large plastic envelope containing paperwork detailing what the cargo is, where it’s going, where it’s come from and other information. The representative may be waiting for you when you arrive or turn up quite late, even minutes before the flight leaves! Don’t worry, this is quite normal and the flight won’t go without you!
Don’t be annoyed if you’ve been waiting at the airport a few hours and the courier representative turns up with minutes to spare, there is good reason for this.
The person meeting you may be busy doing his job of sorting out the cargo and paperwork. Because courier companies ship time sensitive materials, it is often necessary for them to wait until the last possible minute before sorting out the documentation, just in case some last minute cargo is booked in with them on your flight.
If it is the ‘eleventh hour’ of a flight and no-one has met you yet, don’t panic! The representative will turn up and make sure you get on that plane, even if he/she has to escort you to the front of the passenger cue at the departure gate himself/herself!
It has been known for the paperwork not to turn up until you are on-board the aircraft but again, this is nothing to get stressed about. The courier company knows what its doing, after all, they’ve been doing it successfully for many years. So just sit back, relax and let it happen. It’s all part of the adventure and excitement of being an air courier.
You do not handle or clear the cargo through customs yourself. That is all done out of sight and is nothing to do with you. But by occupying a seat on the aircraft with the cargo documentation, the requirements necessary for the shipment to be clear customs at the same speed as personal baggage, have been met.
Talking of baggage, some courier companies, depending on where you are in the world, may restrict the amount of personal luggage you can take but I’ve never had much of a problem. The courier companies I have used have always allowed me one carry-on piece of luggage and one large suitcase up to the usual weight limit, which is always more than enough for me. So if you are one of those people that like to take the kitchen sink with you on holiday, I suggest planning your essential packing well in advance!
As an air courier, you will be flying on your own. Couriers companies usually only need or allow one courier per flight. If you wish to travel with a partner, they can always book a regular ticket on the same flight. Alternatively, your partner could also fly as a courier and join you at your destination a day ahead or after you. In some cases, where there are several flights leaving for the same destination on any given day, your partner can simply book a courier seat on the next flight and arrive just a few hours before or after you do. It can take a bit of planning but the substantial savings you make on the ticket price will more than make up for this slight inconvenience.
So you’ve got your paperwork and are sitting comfortably on board. Enjoy the flight and try not to look too smug! Once you’ve landed and disembark the aircraft, collect your personal luggage and clear customs as normal. In your instructions you will have been told the procedure to follow when you get to your destination. Sometimes a courier company representative will be waiting to meet you at the airport, you may be required to drop off the paperwork at an airport office or wait at a specified place in the building with your paperwork. Then you just hand over the paperwork to the representative and when he is satisfied that all is in order, you are free to go and enjoy your holiday.
If your journey requires a stop-over on your way to your final destination, you would keep hold of your documents, clear customs and immigration in the normal way and meet a courier representative who will drive you to a business class hotel for your brief stay. The courier company pays for your rooms and, if you are lucky, meals too! Then, when your onward flight is due to depart, the courier company will pick you up from the hotel and make sure you get to the airport in good time to continue your journey.
So you’ve had a very nice holiday and are ready to return to your home country. The courier company will have included in your instructions everything you need to know regarding when to report back to the foreign airport for your return journey. Usually you will be required to re-confirm your intention to return on your booked flight with the courier company. In some instances there won’t be any cargo to accompany on the return leg of your journey and you will already have your return ticket. If this is the case you simply confirm your return flight with the airline as normal and turn up for your flight as Joe Public would.
If you are accompanying cargo back to your home country, the process at the airport is exactly the same. Your courier information pack will explain everything you need to know as regards where and when to check in and who will be meeting you at the airport. Once you arrive back at your home airport you will, as before, either be met by a representative of the courier company (if you have accompanied cargo back) or need to meet someone at a designated place in order to hand over your paperwork. Once that is completed you are free go and, having caught the courier travel bug, start planning your next dirt cheap flight!
In just a moment I’ll show you the current list of courier companies around the world that offer discount tickets but to get the very latest information on which courier companies serve which destinations, plus much more information about the world of courier travel, let me pause to tell you about The International Association of Air Travel Couriers (www.courier.org). The IAATC was founded in 1989 and its mission is to provide courier companies with a knowledgeable and dependable courier resource. Shipping firms continue to count on the association to provide them with last minute couriers in time of need as well as an information and support resource for couriers themselves. Courier companies often tell the IAATC about last minute bargain offers which are then posted on the IAATC web site.
As a member of IAATC you have a unique password which allows you access to this up-to-the-minute online information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Couriers can also call the association office during regular business hours and get the same information read to them over the telephone.
Members also receive regular bi-monthly editions of the associations magazine The Shoestring Traveler and Travel Guide International. Each edition is packed full of the latest courier and regular bargain travel information as well as fascinating travel stories from couriers around the world. I recommend checking out their website.

When it comes to booking student discount airline tickets, it is all a matter of timing and willingness to compromise. What this means is you can grab those student flight discounts if you are willing to alter your departure date, fly at odd times or even be willing to tolerate layovers or even a smaller plane or airport.
Red-Eye versus Shut-Eye
You pay for the privilege of flying at decent hours - basically during your normal “awake” time. Do you forgo a little sleep and fly in the middle of the night or wee hours of the morning on red-eye flights to save money or pay more for being able to sleep in? Typically, airlines fly at all times of the day and night and there are usually empty seats during the odd hours. To avoid flying with empty seats and forgoing some profits, airlines will offer student discount airline tickets to fill up the plane.
Fly During Off-Peak Times
The middle of the week is the best time to cop some student flight discounts. Business travellers dominate the airways on Mondays and Fridays so these days are typically the most expensive times to fly. If you can compromise on the day you fly, you can save up to hundreds of dollars, depending on your destination. Of course, if you have no choice but to fly on a Monday or Friday, consider a red-eye flight to save a little cash.
If you know you are travelling around the holiday season, consider booking far in advance to be guaranteed a good price. Booking too close to the holidays means you pay top dollar. Again, the same logic applies. If you can compromise on the day you fly, you will save.
Multiple Stops
You can save hundreds of dollars by booking a flight with multiple stops in between your departure city and destination. While it may take you several extra hours, saving the money is likely more paramount when you are a student. Besides, think of all the people watching or studying you can do!
Flying into a regional airport versus a larger one can help you save money just as much as travelling via a smaller airline carrier. Last minute travel deals are a possibility but you leave too much to chance with no guarantee that you will get the flight you need. Of course, if you like a bit of adventure, it is something to try if you want student discount airline tickets. Changing times, travelling off-peak and tolerating layovers is the best way to garner student flight discounts.

As the big international airports in general Schiphol is not used by most of the low budget airlines that usually prefer smaller airports with lower fees. Many airlines use Schiphol as a hub and it is the base for airlines like the KLM, BmiBaby etc.
Schiphol airport has a well developed infrastructure and is known to be easy to navigate because of its well planned terminal.
Of course, the Dutch make up the majority of the population, but you will find people and food from every country imaginable, with English being the predominant language.
Cheap flights to Amsterdam, once rare, are now available from most large cities in the United States. And, there is never a bad time to go to Amsterdam! Whether you go in the winter or the moderate summer weather, there is plenty to see in do in this city.
Booking plane tickets is always a great hassle and requires a great deal of time. Finding a way out often becomes a necessity if you are one of those who fly frequently.

Looking for cheap flights internet clouded experience for almost people out there since you’re attending encounter 100s of websites that offer rebates on airfare. A lot of these internet site* also offer cheesy global ticket rates. You need to recognize that authorized internationalist airfares are ruled by IATA (International air transportation Association) and it doesn’t allow for direct discounting of airfare. But there’s a way of buying low-cost tickets by consolidators and middlemen. So let’s check how incisively you can find low-priced flights internet.
Consolidators are sold-out tickets at really poor costs. You can find whatever air consolidator in your country and check about their pricing structure and additional facilities they’ve to offering. Consolidators provide travelers to comparison costs of different travel authorities and also help them in selecting the better time of flight. There are 3 types of air consolidators: destination specializes, in large quantities consolidators and internet travel consolidators. Address specialists are capable to draw deductions depending on a special destination. Wholesale consolidators don’t trade tickets direct but you can check more about multi-stop specializes who come below this class. They may be able to help you call at getting cheesier travel offices.
Online journey consolidators are the better method of finding out the most low-cost flights, nationalist or internationalist. They might not be the finest in offering extra services but when it comes to pricing, that’s wherever they specialize. You’ll find more online authorities like that, such as Travelocity, Sky scanner, cheesy Flights, Expedia, STA Travel and more. Expedia and Travelocity are 2 of the most pop online traveling authorities. They offering especial flight costs with more airways all-round the world. Consolidator fares can save you big on your airfare. While it is the better to go around when finding out cheesy flings, more people still like to conceive purchasing direct airway tickets because they’re honest and offering a lot of services than the consolidators.
Selecting the correct time for reserving your flights is also important. Some of the times the finest deals are provided at the last minute of bookings. If you’re traveling lonely you might want to wait till the day of your loss. However, reservation advanced is always safer and more reliable and you never know when your luck might take a turn and the airway may offering you tickets at a discount when you buy them. Again, there are online travel authorities that offering rebates if your reserve in advance.
Traveling to far off states is possible only through with air flights. Air hose* can be internal and external. Domestic airlines let you fly from one city to other within the edges of the state. International air flights allow you to travel long-distance call* outside a country. So you can go from one piece of the world to extra in a few hours with global air flights.
The air hose market is becoming highly competitor. These global air flights come with ample of deduction options. The international air flights are very expensive so make use of the price reduction offers. But you need to plan your trip advanced in order to have the best discounts. The earlier you plan your trip and reserve your tickets, the more economical deal you arrive. You can also get free vacation packages online.
Traveling on flights has become most common these days. Some people traveling as they need some time for themselves from their busy schedule. Others are traveling because of business needs. And so everybody have their own different causes for traveling but one thing common is their wish to save as far as possible by availing cheap flight tickets. Who does not prefer to make their trip economical?
Your holiday can be exciting if you get a cheap flight without standing in long waiting line*. The many travel websites make your ambitions come true by offering discount rate* or deals. Afterwards all, you want to save your heavy earned income.

How to prepare and micro-manage every aspect of the trip to make it smooth, easy and safe.

(PRWEB) December 13, 2005 — “Parents know that sending a child unaccompanied on an airplane involves the risk of the child getting lost,” says former flight attendant and airline-safety author Diana Fairechild.

Fairechild's research has “uncovered many incidents of what the airlines call 'misplaced minors.' One example is a 7-year-old, booked to fly from San Francisco to Southern California, who wound up in New York.”

An additional uncertainty is “the horror of being assigned an abusive seatmate,” warns Fairechild, alluding to a new policy now endorsed by some airlines which denies male passengers a seat next to a child if both are flying alone.

Though critics of this new airline policy say it is an example of political correctness gone amuck, Fairechild quotes a saying known to all airline insiders: “No regulation in aviation takes effect without somebody's blood on it.” She adds, “It indicates here that the existence of abusive seatmates is now severe enough for the airlines to acknowledge it.”

UM

The airlines refer to children flying solo as “unaccompanied minors”(UM). UMs are between ages 5 and 11 or 14 (depending on the airline).

“There is a misconception that the airlines will provide a baby-sitting service for UMs,” says Fairechild. “What they provide is simply an airline employee escort from the ticket counter or departure gate to the child's seat on board and, at the arrival airport, another escort off the plane to the adult picking them up.”

For this service, children are charged the full adult price for the ticket (not the discount they are entitled to when traveling with adults) plus a surcharge that can be as much as $100 each way depending on the length of the flight and if there are connecting flights.

SAFEGUARDING UMs

To reduce parental anxiety when relinquishing a child to an airline, Fairechild has developed some excellent strategies for parents and children.

1. Creating extended families. While waiting on line to check in, if you see families, ask if they are on the same flight–and introduce your child.

2. Strategic seating. Request a seat close to the galley so flight attendants are always within view.
-Do not choose a seat in a front row where there is no under-seat stowage for the child's carry-on, which needs to remain handy throughout the flight rather than inaccessibly stowed in an overhead bin.
-Ask for a window seat because the view is awesome.

3. Child's carry-on. Keep it light. Essentials to include:
-Child's photo ID and medical history.
-Cell phone for the child and your contact information.
-Picture of the person meeting the child with their name and phone number on the back.
-Some snacks.
-Games for the flight.
-A surprise.

More tips on how to prepare for and micro-manage every aspect of the child's solo trip can be found on Fairechild's consumer-activist web site, Flyana.com–”One of twelve most creative web sites, according to The New York Times.

DIANA FAIRECHILD has flown 10 million miles, authored 5 books, and provided expert testimony in court cases involving airline passengers. Fairechild has been seen on CNN, Dateline, Extra, Hard Copy, ABC and NBC. Fairechild's books “Jet Smarter” and “Strategies for the Wise Passenger” are a must for everyone flying today.
